The Problem With Movie Theatres

Soderbergh's Bubble was simultaneously released on cable, in theatres and on DVD. (See the Wired article) It wasn't a big success according to theatre owners; the studio said it's just round one. I for one welcome simultaneous release. There are so many movies I just don't think are worth the $40-50 bucks it costs to go to the movies nowadays. Some action flicks like Lord of the Rings, King Kong and maybe Spiderman I'd likely go see in the theatre. Special effects movies, I'd probably go see in the theatre. Movies like Wedding Crashers, while cool, funny, etc., I'm not motivated to pay such crazy prices.
