Movie Review: The Omen (2006)

The Omen. Why did this movie get made? Will somebody please tell me? It's not that I didn't like The Omen. The original scared me silly. This "new" version is the exact same movie. The script is 95% the same, kinda like chimps and people: we look different, but we usually act in the same ways.

I understand reviving a play with a new cast, set, etc. It's a live production. You perform the same lines, with similar sets, same music, etc. It's a new experience that can't be replicated with aged or dead actors. The Omen is a movie, on film, that can be played over and over again. It's available on DVD. My guess is they figured they'd make a ton on a new movie because opening day fell on an evil-numbered day. Why didn't they instead re-release the original for a one-day only engagement? Spend less money on reviving a classic. It'd be an Event. A much cheaper to produce, and much more worthwhile Event to attend. Bottom line: if you saw the original, it's the same movie. You already know what happens and how. There is nothing new in this movie. Save the 2 hours for something better.
